Description

This beautiful lamp is a combination of leather and Silk. The front panel of the lamp is made of Leather and is hand painted, the remaining sides are made of silk. The leather itself is processed to give it a translucent appeal which when placed against light enhances colour and expression of the characters/ images painted on it. The base of the lamp is made of wood.


Your lamp is inspired by the Madhubani Paintings of Bihar. The lamp incorporates an exquisite Madhubani painting custom created for the colour palette of this lamp. Madhubani art (or Mithila Painting) is practised in the Mithila region which is mostly in the state of Bihar in India. The art form, traditionally created by women of different communities, involves paintings on cloth done with fingers, twigs, brushes, nib pens, match sticks etc. using natural dyes and pigments. The paintings are characterized by eye-catching geometrical patterns depicting people, Village life and their relationship with nature. Depiction of scene and deity from ancient epics, Gods and Goddesses, natural objects like the Sun and Moon are some of the popular themes of Madhubani art.
